Ribbons, Roses & Pearls ~ High Tea

Recently, I designed a styled a pretty high tea for my husband's Nan's 90th birthday. It was a very special afternoon with many friends and family joining together (some even travelled from interstate) to celebrate Thora's wonderful milestone.

The theme for the party was ribbon, roses and pearls with a colour scheme of mint green and blush pink. Ribbons were chosen to symbolise Nan's love of sewing and craft, roses to symbolise her favourite flower and pearls to symbolise how special Nan is to everyone.

I created the backdrop, hand stitching lengths of ribbon and strings of pearls.  The lovely flower posies featured pink and white roses and ranunculi. The table featured both savoury and sweet morsels.

On the savoury menu were a selection of gourmet sandwiches including marinated cucumber sandwiches with creme fraiche, chicken and almond ribbon sandwiches and herbed cream cheese and smoked salmon pinwheels.

Sarah from Vanilla Bean - Cake Design fulfilled my brief for the cake perfectly.  The single tier dark chocolate mud cake was was simple yet elegant. The stunning and delicate sugar rose and pearl detail complimented the theme perfectly.

Other desserts included coconut and pistachio macaroons, vanilla cupcakes, strawberry tartlets, banana caramel tartlets, lemon almond meringue tarts, cream puffs, mini meringues, chocolate dipped strawberries and scones with strawberry conserve and cream.

It meant a lot to me to be asked to create this table for the Pearson family.  Thank you and happy birthday Thora (Nan) x
